1971-1974 Blue Ikes
The authorizing legislation for the new Eisenhower "Ike" Dollar series, including authority for the United States Mint to strike coins in a composition of 40% silver. These coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint from 1971 to 1974 and were sold to collectors individually. Because of the distinctive packaging, the coins came to be known as "Blue Ikes".
